 Without  a question, women have been plagued with the problem of ripping and,  catching, and snagging their pantyhose, stockings, tights, nylons.   Every woman who's ever worn them, has experienced the angst and  frustration at ruining a perfectly good pair, and oftentimes, brand-new  right out of the package.   Snagging them can be at the most  inconvenient and  inopportune time-- while they're being worn, and in  the most inappropriate places.  Nothing is more disruptive to a woman's  feeling of being "put together"-- than having a run in her stocking, and  that confidence turns in to instant self-consciousness and  embarrassment.  

For  years, women have most-often  resorted to the use of clear nail polish  (if available while), or even hair-spray as triage.  Both work, but have  their drawbacks-- the clear nail polish leaving an unsightly and very  noticeable blob that sticks to the skin-- which later has to be  peeled-off, and virtually ruins the stocking.

 Pantyhose  Run-Stop provides a convenient solution to women to mend or repair the  sheer pantyhose, stockings, and tights, of a low denier number (below  30) -- that are delicate and prone to snagging .  Denier 40-50 tights,  are heavier, more durable, and generally opaque. 

Run-Stop's  composition, is a non-viscous water-based fixative solution-- NOT an  adhesive or glue!  The fixative deposits a quick-drying  film of polymer  microspheres  to the small compromised area in hose where a snag in the  woven microfiber nylon mesh (generally less than 50 denier) resulting  in a broken filament or fiber, that will continue to unravel  longitudinally creating what's called a "run", or a "ladder" in the  U.K., thereby bonding (or "welding") the uncompromised fibers in the  woven mesh, to each other without creating a thick globular patch of  adhesives or other viscous substances. 

Imagine  trying to apply putty or spackle to a tiny hole... the thicker and more  viscous the substance is... the worst its going to look.  All that is  needed-- is to secure the broken strands of fiber, to the others not  compromised or broken-- simply to keep the filaments from unraveling,  and developing into a run.  Modern water based polymers are most suited  for this application, and adhere to the mesh strands-- without filling  in the spaces between the mesh-- providing an elastic and flexible  "fix", without being a thick and unsightly patch.

If  a minor run has begun to develop, the application of the composition at  the end of the run will secure the uncompromised weave, thereby  affixing the microfilaments to each other, thereby preventing the  further progression of the unraveling woven mesh.

The  low viscosity aqueous composition is a fixative-- not an adhesive, and  therefore mechanically integrates with and bonds to fibers, without the  viscosity of polymerized molecularly-linked synthetic resins found in  adhesives an nail polish, which creates a deposition of  a rigid and  thick layer.  

A  layer can also be pre-emptively applied around the toe-nail section of  the ultra-sheer hosiery- to reinforce the small section that often runs  from contact the toe-nail being a bit long.
